At what stage is the casting of the next James Bond ? This question has been asked and many have been asking it ever since Daniel Craig said goodbye to the role after No Time to Die .
Last June, the producer of the 007 saga Barbara Broccoli had said that the shooting of the new film was at least two years away . She recently made a new statement that seems in line with the latter: Casting for the character hasn’t even begun.
Broccoli told LADbible : “No, we haven’t even started casting yet. There isn’t even a script”.
Evidently, what is most pressing to EON Productions, at this point, is to understand which path to take with the character and how to further rejuvenate him, however taking a direction different enough from Craig’s Bond to make it original.
As we know, Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson met Aaron Taylor-Johnson some time ago, but now it’s clear that it was only a preliminary meeting and that a real casting process hasn’t really started. All that remains is to wait.
The after No Time to Die
The latest Daniel Craig film, No Time to Die , did something no other 007 film had ever done before: kill James Bond. An ending that is also a declaration of intent: wherever the saga goes, to return to the cinema Bond will necessarily have to reinvent himself for the new generations. Barbara Broccoli has already said that she has no interest in changing the gender of the character, but other than that we have no idea what the new 007 will look like.
