Netflix is set to premiere Money Heist season 5 volume 1 on September 3, 2021. The first volume of the final season of the Money Heist series will continue the heist of Professor (Alvaro Morte) and his friends at the Bank of Spain.
In the previous season, the Spanish police arrested the Professor, the mastermind of the robbery. The arrest resulted in disastrous results for the Professor team, aka The Gang, who was still on a mission to steal gold.
This condition was complicated by the presence of Spanish police and military members who did not hesitate to attack The Gang, which was still in the Bank of Spain.
1. The Gang Uses the City’s Name as a pseudonym
The Money Heist series follows the story of the biggest heist in Spain, initiated by a mysterious professor (Alvaro Morte). He gathered a group of people given pseudonyms based on major world cities such as Tokyo, Denver, Nairobi, Berlin, Oslo, and many more.
In the first season of the series, the Professor and his team perform in the mint building, the Royal Mint of Spain. The first season of the series features a suspenseful heist.
Especially when they took 67 people hostage to print as much as 2.4 billion Euros in a matter of time.
2. Dramatic Robbery Amidst Police Siege
The second season of this series largely continues the heist inside the Royal Mint of Spain. In addition to presenting tense action, the storyline in the second season is peppered with unexpected things and full of drama.
One of them is the love story of a robber named Denver (Jaime Lorente), with a pregnant hostage named Mónica Gaztambide, later known as Stockholm (Esther Acebo).
In addition, the Professor’s relationship with inspector Raquel Murillo (Itziar Ituño) is also increasingly at risk, causing conflicts that make their mission deviate from the original plan.
In the second season, the Professor’s intelligence is also tested as he tries to retrieve the stolen money and his members escape safely from the Royal Mint of Spain, which the police have surrounded.
3. The Beginning of a Robbery Plan at a Spanish Bank
In the third season of the Money Heist series, the Professor and his team safely made it out of the Royal Mint of Spain. Three years later, they reunite to plan another heist.
This time, the Professor is back with a more difficult robbery plan than the previous one, namely robbing gold at the Bank of Spain.
In this robbery, they must also reunite to save one of the police arrested members.
Not only full of suspenseful action, but the third season of this series also features more locations as the background of the story, including Indonesia and other Asian countries.
Overall, Money Heist has been filmed in 300 locations and seven countries, with several scenes involving local people in those locations.
4. Dark Moments in Season 4
In the fourth season of the Money Heist series, the robbery of the team led by the Professor at the Bank of Spain is also not free from dark moments.
After inspector Raquel (Itziar Ituño) gets involved in a robbery mission at the Bank of Spain, they must face a dark moment when one of the members is shot dead by the enemy who manages to break into the Bank of Spain.
This moment makes The Gang more emotional and fragile at the same time. This is made worse because the Professor is also arrested by a police officer named Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri), with no plans to free her.
5. Robbery Turns into War
After the Professor is arrested, the robbers or The Gang are locked up in the Bank of Spain for more than 100 hours without a leader.
Not only that, the situation was even more complicated with the arrival of a much stronger enemy than before, namely the soldiers. They did not hesitate to attack the members of the Professor’s group.
In this challenging situation, the Bank of Spain turned into a battlefield. The robbers tried desperately to survive simultaneously; the military tried to stop their actions to save state assets.
In addition to the situation turning chaotic, the series’s fifth season will also feature several new characters who might be a glimmer of hope for the robbers. But they can also turn to make things difficult for them.
