A healthier social network: How to automatically filter and hide comments on Instagram

One way to filter Instagram comments and avoid some kind of offense or awkward moment when uploading a post.

Instagram has become one of the most popular applications for young people and adults, who do not hesitate to constantly interact on this network and keep their followers, friends and family up to date on their activities . For this reason, it is very common that day by day the application seeks to protect its users from any attack, harassment and abuse and thus avoid long-term problems.

On many occasions, Instagram users have received offensive or uncomfortable comments from people who are part of their followers. Instagram has an algorithm capable of avoiding this type of message, be it violent words or specific phrases that alert the application. But sometimes, the netizen wants to personally filter said comments or look for tools so that it can be done automatically, therefore, here are two options to do it.

Option 1.

This personalized and automatic function is applied in posts, stories, reels and live videos.

  1. The Instagram user must open the application and go to their profile.
  2. After that, press the top three-line menu.
  3. Click on the Settings section, then privacy and finally Comments.
  4. Look for the Hide offensive comments option

In this way, the Instagram algorithm will carry out the process immediately.

Option 2.

In case the algorithm is not completely efficient for the user, this can be done manually.

  1. Open the Instagram application and enter again at least three lines in the upper right.
  2. Click on Settings, then Privacy and after that on Comments.
  3. The user must activate the Manual Filter option.
  4. When activated, the person must write the word or phrases that they want the application to filter and thus be removed from the comments.

With this option, the user can manually select any word that is uncomfortable or far from his liking, so that the application restricts it.
