A SEQUEL TO GREYHOUND, APPLE’S WAR MOVIE STARRING TOM HANKS, IS ON THE WAY

Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman ‘s Playtone has entered into a multi-year agreement with Apple TV + for the making of unscripted films, series, documentaries and projects.

Among the first projects announced is a sequel to Greyhound , the war film starring Hanks and released by Apple TV + in 2020.

In addition of course to Masters of the Air , the series that will continue the account of the American war effort in World War II after Band of Brothers and The Pacific .

The series is produced by Playtone together with Apple Studios and Steven Spielberg ‘s Amblin Television . In the cast Austin Butler , protagonist of the nextElvis , andBarry Keoghan.

At the time of its release in July 2020, Greyhound became one of the most viewed titles on the platform . There are no further details on the sequel for now.

The original film

Inspired by a true story, as told in CS Forester’s novel The Good Shepherd , Greyhound tells the story of a navy captain, Ernest Krause , who must lead a convoy of allied ships, hunted down by Nazi U-boats. Here is the plot:

In the early days of World War II, an international convoy of 37 Allied ships, led by Captain Ernest Krause (Tom Hanks) on his first mission as an American destroyer, crosses the treacherous North Atlantic with packs of Nazi U-boats. at his heels.

Also in the cast are Elisabeth Shue , Stephen Graham , Manuel Garcia-Rulfo , Karl Glusman and Rob Morgan . Tom Hanks also wrote the script. This is the third film he wrote after Music Graffiti and Love Suddenly – Larry Crowne , and the first that he has not also directed. Directing is Aaron Schneider , a cinematographer on his second film as a director after Get Low , eleven years ago
