Andrew Garfield is deservedly back in the limelight thanks to Tick, Tick… ​​Boom! , Spider-Man: No Way Home.


The Eyes of Tammy Fey , so the news of a new series starring him has sparked some enthusiasm among fans.

The show in question is Under the Banner of Heaven , of which FX has unveiled the first teaser.

At the base of the series is the book of the same name by Jon Krakauer (the same of Into the Wild ), which here delves into both the origin and evolution of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – the so-called Mormons – and a case of double homicide that actually happened in 1984 within this religious community. Garfield plays a Mormon detective who begins to question Church teachings when he investigates this murder.

Under the Banner of Heaven was written byDustin Lance Black, screenwriter of Milk (which earned him an Oscar) and J. Edgar . He also wrote several episodes of Big Love , and grew up in a Mormon family himself. The US release is expected soon onHulu, so we can hope that it will arrive in Italy on Disney + .

The official synopsis

Under the Banner of Heaven is a limited series inspired by the book of the same name by Jon Krakauer. A detective’s faith is tested when he investigates a brutal murder that seems connected to the fall of a respected Utah family into Mormon fundamentalism and distrust of the government. Andrew Garfield plays Pyre, a long-time Mormon who is devoted to his Church and family, but begins to question some Church teachings through contact with a murder suspect. Daisy Edgar-Jones is Brenda, a young Mormon victim of a brutal murder.
