ANDY MUSCHIETTI TO DIRECT BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD

Now it’s official: Andy Muschietti will direct The Brave and the Bold , the first Batman film in the new DC Universe .

It is one of the projects announced by James Gunn for the relaunch of the DC universe , and promises to be very different from the previous transpositions of the Bat Man. In fact, at the center of the story we will find the conflicting relationship between Bruce Wayne and his biological son, Damian , had without his knowledge by Talia Al Ghul . Little Damian was raised by the League of Assassins , so by his pre-teen age he’s already a skilled warrior, but he doesn’t have the same moral code as his father.

However, Andy Muschietti impressed James Gunn and Peter Safran with the very recent The Flash , released yesterday in Italian cinemas, but he is also known for The mother and the two chapters of IT .

Gunn and Safran’s statements

Speaking to Deadline , the heads of DC Studios said:

We saw The Flash even before he took the reins at DC Studios, and we knew we were in the hands of not just a visionary director, but a huge DC fan. It’s a magnificent film — funny, emotional, intriguing — and Andy’s affinity and passion for these characters and this world is visible in every shot. So when it came time to find a director for The Brave and the Bold , it was the only choice. Luckily, Andy said “yes”, Barbara [Muschietti] signed on to produce with us, and so we are ready. They make an amazing team, and we couldn’t have better partners as we embark on this thrilling new adventure in the DCU.

The deal with Warner Bros.

Additionally, Andy and Barbara Muschietti have signed a three-year deal with Warner Bros. Pictures , Warner Bros. Television Group and Max . Under their Double Dream production company , the Muschiettis will develop and produce several tentpole projects , which Andy may also direct. For Warner Bros. Television Group and Max , the two will continue to make TV series for various platforms, after the IT prequel / spin-off entitled Welcome to Derry .

The announcement was made yesterday by Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy , presidents and chief executive officers of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group , and Channing Dungey , president and chief executive officer of Warner Bros. Television Group
