Despite not having made the presentation of its AR viewer official, Apple would have once again changed its plans to present this device to the world.
Apple has been working on an augmented reality headset for a long time , which industry insiders have previously indicated will mark a new milestone in the technology’s history. Although the company has not officially revealed it yet, reports from respected sources have indicated that this project is a fact and that it is only a matter of time before the company presents it to the world. However, it seems that the presentation date of this device has moved away again.
According to what Mark Gurman details in Bloomberg , Apple ‘s AR viewer which is known by the provisional name of Reality Pro has been delayed once again. Although various reports suggested that the team would finally be shown between March and April of this year, the insider points out that it will now be revealed in June, taking advantage of the participation of those from Cupertino in the WorldWide Developers Conference 2023 (WWDC 2023 ) .
Apple’s Reality Pro would appear at WWDC 2023
The supposed release date of the Reality Pro has gone through a plethora of modifications in recent years. At the beginning of 2022, several technology portals reported that it would be shown at WWDC 2022 . However, when this event took place and the device did not appear, November seemed like the ideal launch window. Time kept ticking away uneventfully, and late last year January 2023 was suggested as the final window. Again, to no avail.
It seems that the date mentioned by Gurman would be the definitive one, although, since it is not an official source, we cannot be totally sure of this. The long-awaited “One more thing” that in turn to Apple ‘s Reality Pro could happen at WWDC 2023 , especially now that Apple Glasses have been postponed indefinitely.
The Apple device that will change the AR paradigm
The expectation for Apple ‘s augmented reality viewer is enormous since it would mean the technology company’s foray into a new product category, something that has not happened since it introduced the Apple Watch in 2015 and the first AirPods in 2016. Although obviously will not be a pioneer in this field, the firm led by Tim Cook could become the agent it needs to break out of its niche and become commercially viable.
As mentioned by the reports, the first version of the Reality Pro will be focused on developers preparing applications for its launch. For this reason, it is more than likely that the price of its first edition is not aimed at being a great sales success, but a transition tool to support the development of augmented and virtual reality technology until it is ready for the market. .
At the moment, the latest report claims that Apple ‘s Reality Pro will be officially shown at WWDC 2023 in June of this year.
