Apple makes more money on video games than Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo combined

Apple makes a large amount of money thanks to the 30% fee that it imposes on any micro transaction in the App Store.

Apple makes more money on the concept of video games than Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft and Activision combined.

According to The Wall Street Journal , Apple, despite not developing games, makes as much money as the largest developer companies on the planet.

The reason for this business is the 30% commission rate it charges for any purchase within the App Store , its iPhone app store.

In total, there were 8.5 billion dollars in profits obtained by Apple during fiscal year 2019. However, it should be noted that during that year it still had Fortnite on its list.

A small percentage is the one that pays the most

According to the report, only 6% of players on the App Store pay 88% of all revenue.

The average, per player, is $ 750 per year, but 1% spent up to $ 2,700.

The games that left the most revenue were Pokémon GO, Candy Crush or Empires & Puzzles . All this information was read by Judge Yvonne González Rogers, who decided in the case of Apple vs. Fortnite that the store should allow new forms of payments from each of the companies.
