After numerous postponements, Avatar 2 will finally be released this year in theaters, in just over nine months.
We’ll probably have to wait a bit for the first trailer, but Zoe Saldaña (aka Neytiri ) has already been able to see about twenty minutes of the film, and talked to People.com about it .
The actress was moved by the first images, also because they are the culmination of a long and tiring realization process:I get a lump in my throat just talking about it. I got to see twenty minutes of the second film, just before the end of the year, last year, and I was speechless. I was moved to tears.
Part of the emotion is due to the fact that James Cameron managed to overcome another technological challenge: the use of performance capture in underwater shooting.Jim has finally managed to overcome that challenge – the fact that you can’t mimic water, virtually, with performance capture. It’s a challenge he wanted to take on his shoulders, and it took years, but he made it. He did it. It’s powerful, it’s engaging.
We’ll see if this sequel manages to be as innovative as Cameron ‘s past films , and if it relaunches 3D on the big screen as the first chapter.
Meanwhile, I remind you that the release is expected for December 16, 2022 .
