Avatar: The Waterway came out just in time for the Christmas holidays, and found a rather special way to wish us well.

The youtube channel of the saga has in fact published a “Pandorian” version of Twelve Days of Christmas , one of the most popular Christmas songs in Anglo-Saxon culture. The origins of the music are unknown, but the text is a children’s rhyme which first appeared in the book Mirth without Mischief (1780). With a typical cumulative structure, the narrator describes the gifts he has received from his “true love”, adding one for each verse (and for each day of the holidays). It is the same pattern that we also find in Angelo Branduardi ‘s Alla Fiera dell’Est , so to speak.

In this version, however, the characters of Avatar are mentioned as senders of the gifts, while the gifts are the creatures, vehicles or other elements of the saga. The evocative reinterpretation of the piece of music is the work of L’Orchestra Cinématique , an English trio made up of Cole Magnus , Simon Joshua and Chan Williams . They specialize in covers of large orchestral compositions from film, TV and video games.

Speaking of music, don’t forget the video clip with The Weeknd’s song for the film , and the soundtrack on Disney Music VEVO .

Happy Christmas!
