The company ultimately beat out Netflix, Apple and Hulu to land the animated series conceived for HBO Max and Cartoon Network and canceled last August by Warner Bros. Discovery . This move is part of Warner ‘s strategy to monetize content by selling it to third parties.

Spokesmen for all parties declined to comment on the news. THR explains that formal agreements have not yet been concluded.

Described as a reimagining of the Batman mythology , the first season consists of 10 episodes.

Cartoonist Ed Brubaker is part of the creative team and ran the writers room, and was Timm ‘s right-hand man in season one.

After Felicity and Cloverfield , JJ Abrams and Matt Reeves return to work together as executive producers of Batman: Caped Crusader .

We do not know where the development of the project is and when it will be released.
