The original movie

The original Beetlejuice , starring Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Catherine O’Hara and Winona Ryder , was released in 1988. Written by Warren Skaaren ( Beverly Hills Cop II, Batman ) from a story by Michael McDowell and Larry Wilson , the film was a success, grossing nearly $75 million from a $15 budget, and won an Academy Award for Best Makeup. Among his other merits is that of having created the director / actor team (Burton and Keaton) who would then make Batman the following year .

The plot of Beetlejuice

Barbara and Adam Maitland (Davis and Baldwin) decide to spend the holidays working on their dream country house in Winter River, Connecticut, but a fatal accident prevents them from doing so. Stuck in the mansion like ghosts, the Maitlands find themselves sharing it with the new owners, the Deetzes, a rowdy New York family with a goth daughter (Ryder) to look after. The Deetz family transform the mansion into a tasteless work of modern art, and so the Maitlands decide to kick them out. To do this, they will have to ask for the intervention of Betelgeuse (Keaton), a spirit specialized in bio-exorcisms.
