Filming on Beetlejuice 2 has already begun in London, and the first photos of Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz arrive from the set .
35 years after the first film , the actress sports the same goth style that made her iconic in 1988. As we know, Tim Burton is again directing , recently busy with the Wednesday series . The protagonist of the latter, Jenna Ortega , will be the daughter of Lydia .
Michael Keaton will of course return as Betelgeuse , the bio-exorcist who drives the living out of haunted houses, while Catherine O’Hara will once again be Delia . In addition to Jenna Ortega , Justin Theroux , Willem Dafoe and Monica Bellucci , who could play the wife of Betelgeuse , are also among the new cast .
The screenplay is written by Mike Vukadinovich , who rewrote the script by Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg . The two are also producers with Tim Burton himself and Brad Pitt ‘s Plan B. Beetlejuice 2 is expected to release on September 6, 2024 in US theaters, the same day as Blade .

The official synopsis of the first film
What’s a haunted couple to do when their beautiful and quaint New England home is taken over by a hip New York couple? He can only hire a bio-exorcist of his own to scare off intruders. And there will be plenty for everyone! Director Tim Burton ( Batman, Mars Attacks! ) is teamed with Michael Keaton ( Night Shift, Batman ). The result? Keaton launches into an endless series of jokes, twists and foolishness, dispenses wisecracks, assumes grotesque forms, gobbles insects and can’t leave women alone (dead or alive). Keaton’s wild performance in this film and Out of the Tunnelearned him the 1988 National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Actor. Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Winona Ryder and Sylvia Sidney well support his performance, along with a fantastic production design, songs by Harry Belafonte and an Academy Award winner for Best Makeup.
