The sequel to Black Adam is not happening, at least not for the moment.
It was Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson himself who confirmed it, with an official statement published on Twitter. The actor revealed that he had discussed it with James Gunn , who as we know is planning the new course of the DC Universe with Peter Safran , here are his words:
Dear fellow fans, I want to give you a long awaited update on Black Adam’s future in the DC Universe. James Gunn and I have met, and Black Adam will not be part of the first chapter of this new universe. Nonetheless, DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring how Black Adam can be placed in future chapters of DC’s multiverse.
James and I have known each other for years and have always hoped the best for each other. Things don’t change now, and I will always hope DC (and Marvel) win in the grandest way! These decisions made by James and DC’s new leadership represent their vision for the DCU. After 15 years of nonstop hard work to make Black Adam, I am proud of the film we have given to fans around the world. I will always remember the fan reaction to Black Adam with tremendous gratitude, humility and love. We did some good things. I want to tell my passionate fans of Black Adam and superheroes that I love you, I will always love you and I will always do what I can to make you happy.

The news in some ways does not come as a surprise. It is a rumor that has been circulating on the web for quite some time and which has now been confirmed by the person concerned.
Black Adam has not been the commercial success hoped for, although The Rock has always tried to defend it in any way possible.
Matt Belloni in his newsletter had also hinted that Dwayne Johnson or his team had provided false information on the receipts to defend the film from accusations of having been a flop ( find more details HERE ).
In any case, it seems that Gunn and Safran are serious about revolutionizing the DC Universe. We can’t do anything but wait for the next chapter of what is proving to be a particularly exciting story.
