Filming on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will resume next week in Georgia.
following the long hiatus following star Letitia Wright ‘s injury while filming a stunt last August. Filming had stopped since November , because production had continued without the actress. But it is taken for granted by virtually everyone that Letitia Wright will be the new protagonist, also because the role of T’Challa, played by the late Chadwick Boseman , will not be rewritten . So the process couldn’t have gone on that long without her.
At the time of the stop, Marvel Studios had released a statement explaining that Wright’s conditions were more serious than initially established:
As you know, Letitia had a terrible accident on our set during a stunt last August. It reminded us how important safety is at all times in our work, something you certainly know and are constantly committed to. What we initially thought was minor injuries turned out to be much more serious: Letitia suffered a major shoulder fracture and concussion with serious side effects. It was a painful recovery and Letitia stayed home to recover with the help of her doctors and the support of the family.
We’ve adjusted the production schedule to give her time to heal, but there’s little we can do without Shuri! We also want to thank Letitia for everything she’s doing to get back on set. We know how much you love this role, how hard the distance has been for her, and how hard she is working to recover as quickly as possible. We look forward to his return and we know we will all come back stronger together.
