Netflix has released the trailer for Blockbuster , the workplace comedy starring Melissa Fumero.

The synopsis
Timmy Yoon (Randall Park) is an analog dreamer living in a 5G world. His entire adult life was dedicated to his first love, movies. A passion that made him keep his first and only job, which is to manage the Blockbuster Video in his hometown.
Then Timmy begins to worry when he discovers that his shop is officially the last Blockbuster in America. Now he has no choice but to take action to keep the video store open and continue to employ his friends. Timmy and the staff soon realize that being the ultimate Blockbuster could be what their community needs to reestablish the human connections that have been lost in the digital age. It also makes him unexpectedly reunite with his longtime crush Eliza (Melissa Fumero), who has recently returned to work for him. Will this battle to save the past push Timmy to face the present? His employees really hope so.

In addition to Melissa Fumero and Randall Park, the cast also includes Tyler Alvarez, Madeleine Arthur, JB Smoove, Olga Merediz, Kamaia Fairburn, Ashley Alexander, Robyn Bradley and Carolyn Adair .
The authors
The series was previously in development at NBC. The creator is Vanessa Ramos , known for her work in other workplace comedies such as Superstore and Brooklyn Nine-Nine . Writers also include David Caspe (creator of Happy Endings ) and Jackie Clarke ( Superstore, Happy Endings ), also executive producers along with Davis Entertainment ‘s John Davis and John Fox ( Jungle Cruise ). The production is handled by Universal Television .

The last Blockbuster really exists: it is located in Bend, Oregon, and its story was told in the documentary The Last Blockbuster . In 2020, the store offered the possibility to stay overnight in its premises with Airbnb .
