A new Blue Beetle commercial is available which shows various unpublished scenes.

It including some fragments of the clash between Jaime Reyes ( Xolo Maridueña ) and the antagonist of the moment, Conrad Carapax ( Raoul Max Trujillo ).

In the comics, Carapax is an archaeologist who is electrocuted when he tries to activate an indestructible robot, only to find his mind absorbed by the powerful automaton. This version, of which you can see the first image , looks a bit different though.

As we know, the film had been conceived for the Max platform, but Warner ‘s new ownership (when the studio merged with Discovery ) deemed it worthy of a theatrical release. An opposite fate compared to Batgirl , in turn designed for the streaming service and completely canceled after filming was already completed.

The release is scheduled for August 17 in Italian cinemas. It seems that Blue Beetle is considered the first character of the new DC Universe , despite being a project of the previous management. In the meantime, you can watch the spot below.

Recent college graduate Jaime Reyes (Xolo Maridueña) returns home full of ambitions for his future, only to discover that home is not quite as he left it. While searching for his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Beetle.

When the Beetle chooses him to be its symbiotic host, Jaime is given an incredible armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny and becoming the superhero Blue Beetle.

The cast of Blue Beetle

Xolo Maridueña , known for Cobra Kai , plays Jaime Reyes : in DC comics , he is the third human being to assume the identity of the superhero after Dan Garret and Ted Kord . The rest of the cast includes George Lopez, Adrianna Barraza, Harvey Guillén, Bruna Marquezine, Damián Alcázar, Belissa Escobedo and Elpidia Carrillo . With them we will also find Susan Sarandon in the role of Victoria Kord , an antagonist created especially for the film. Becky G voices Khaji-Da .

Direction and screenplay

Blue Beetle is directed by Ángel Manuel Soto , director of Charm City Kings . The screenplay is instead the work of Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer , the same of Miss Bala and the next El Muerto .

Created by Keith Giffen, John Rogers and Cully Hamner , the character appeared for the first time in 2006 in Infinite Crisis  #5, while the first issue of the series dedicated to him was released in May of the same year.
