Word of mouth was not particularly positive, the film scored: 8.9 on Maoyan and 6.1 on Douban .
Piracy and limited marketing campaign did not contribute: the film debuted in fifth place on its opening day, grossing ¥ 4.3M / $ 0.7M. He held the same position on Saturday and Sunday, taking home ¥ 9M / $ 1.4M and ¥ 13.2M / $ 2.1M respectively. In three days, the film grossed ¥ 20.7M / $ 3.2M.
Worldwide, the film grossed $ 215M against a $ 200M budget.

According to Edko Picture’s Anita , a biopic about Hong Kong pop star Anita Mui grossed ¥ 40.2M / $ 6.3M in three days.
Third was the war film The Battle of Lake Changjin , which grossed $ 4.4M in its seventh weekend to a total of ¥ 5645M / $ 884.8M.
Last but not least, No Time to Die which grossed $ 4.4M in its fourth weekend, bringing the total at the Chinese box office to ¥ 370.6M / $ 58.1M.
Dune hit the box office at A Quiet Place 2 ($ 39.1M), becoming Denis Villeneuve’s highest grossing film, with a 2.5x multiplier of the entire run of Arrival ($ 15.9M).
