Last March his retirement from the scene was announced, following a diagnosis of aphasia, a language disorder caused by lesions in the areas of the brain responsible for processing him.

Bruce Willis suffers from frontotemporal dementia

His condition worsened, Bruce Willis suffers from frontotemporal dementia, a neurodegenerative disease characterized by the progressive loss and deterioration of neurons in specific areas of the Central Nervous System.
As reported in an official press release :

Unfortunately, communication difficulties are just one of the symptoms of the disease that Bruce has to deal with. While all of this is painful, it’s a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis.

As specified in the press release, there is currently no cure for this disease:

Frontotemporal dementia is a cruel disease and can affect anyone. For people under the age of 60, it is the most common form of dementia and is very difficult to detect because it can take a long time to arrive at a diagnosis. There is currently no cure for the disease, we hope this situation will change in the years to come.
