China slams US ‘state abuse’ of TikTok

For China , the US government bans TikTok “exceeds the concept of national security.”

China has criticized all the power imposed by the US government to ban the app TikTok in multiple ways .

The US government’s bans on the app reveal “Washington’s own insecurities and are an abuse of state power,” a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said .

The US government “has been exaggerating the concept of national security and abusing state power to suppress companies from other countries,” Mao Ning said at a daily briefing on Tuesday. “How insecure can the United States , the world’s leading superpower, be to fear a youngster’s favorite app to such an extent?”.

The White House is giving all federal agencies, in guidance issued Monday, 30 days to delete TikTok from all government devices . This institution no longer allowed TikTok on its devices.

TikTok is used by two-thirds of American teenagers, but there is concern in the North American country that China could use its legal and regulatory powers “to obtain private data from users or to try to push misinformation or narratives in favor of its government”.

Congress and more than half of the US states have so far banned TikTok on government-issued mobile devices.
