A wacky group of cops, criminals, tourists and teenagers converge in a Georgia forest, where a 500-pound alpha predator has ingested an impressive amount of cocaine and is rampaging in search of more blows … and blood.

Written by Jimmy Warden and produced by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) and Brian Duffield (Underwater, Spontaneous), the film stars Keri Russell, Ray Liotta, Alden Ehrenreich, O’Shea Jackson and Jesse Tyler Ferguson .

The Story of  Cocaine Bear

The bear in the title is not a metaphor, but a real brown bear that consumed over 30 kilos of cocaine, which fell from the sky over the Kentucky woods in 1985. It was not a miracle, but part of the dramatic end of  Andrew C. Thornton II , former narcotics agent turned drug trafficker. Thornton parachuted out of a Cessna aircraft during a flight to transport cocaine from Colombia to the United States, but the parachute failed to deploy. His body was found in the driveway of a Tennessee man wearing a bulletproof vest, Gucci loafers and in possession of 40 kilos of cocaine, six  gold Krugerrands  , two pistols, daggers and night vision goggles. The episode has been retold in several books and also inspired a subplot of the series Justified .

The film will be distributed by Universal in the USA from February 24, 2023 .
