Computer shipments totaled 65.3 million units in the fourth quarter of 2022, 28.5% less than that registered in the same period of 2021, indicates the consulting firm Gartner .

In all of 2022, computer shipments totaled 286.2 million units, down 16.2% from 2021.

“The anticipation of a global recession, rising inflation and higher interest rates have had a major impact on demand for computers,” said Mikako Kitagawa, Gartner ‘s director of research .

Kitagawa indicated that the previous acquisition of computers due to the pandemic in mass consumption and a drop in business requirements in the face of an economy that is slowing down worldwide are important factors.

Apple (10.7%), Asus (7.5%) and Acer (5.5%) also stand out. The rest of the brands occupy 15.4% of shipments, according to Gartner .
