Concern over discovery of unknown bacteria in Tibet glaciers

Scientists are concerned about the behavior of these bacteria that could affect humans.

A team of researchers from the Chinese Academy of Sciences has found nearly 1,000 species of bacteria in samples of snow and ice collected from Tibetan glaciers.

In their paper published in the journal Nature Biotechnology , the group outlines the collection and study of the bacteria and their concerns about the spread of disease as glaciers melt.
