Among the titles that will be presented out of competition at Venice 79, we find Copenhagen Cowboy , the new Netflix series by Nicolas Winding Refn .

What is Copenhagen Cowboy about?

Copenhagen Cowboy is a six-episode noir series filled with neon light and adrenaline about a young and enigmatic heroine, Miu.

After a life of servitude, on the threshold of a new beginning, she wanders the gloomy landscape of the criminal underworld of Copenhagen.

Seeking justice and revenge, Miu meets her nemesis, Rakel, and together they embark on an odyssey into the natural and the supernatural. Eventually, the past transforms and defines their future and the two women discover that they are not alone, but that they are many.

Here is a video, which gives us a taste of the series. In the cast we find Angela Bundalovic, Lola Corfixen, Zlatko Buric, Andreas Lykke Jørgensen, Jason Hendil-Forssell, Li Ii Zhang, Dragana Milutinovic .

Refn wrote the series in collaboration with Sara Isabella Jönsson and Johanne Algren . These are her statements:

Copenhagen Cowboy was born from my revolutionary fire and tries at the same time to seduce and entertain the senses. It is designed to stimulate the mind, eyes, tongue, heart and soul: tensions and emotions ignite in a macabre tour de force that manifests itself in Miu, a new incarnation of my alter egos, fundamental in my past work , present and future: Bronson (Tom Hardy) in Bronson, One Eye (Mads Mikkelsen) in Valhalla Rising, Driver (Ryan Gosling) in Drive, Lieutenant (Vithaya Pansringarm) in Only God Forgives, Jesse (Elle Fanning) in The Neon Demon and the numerous characters from the show Too Old to Die Young.
