Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec , authors of The Vampire Diaries , will team up again for a series that will arrive on Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming platform.
The series, titled Dead Day , will be a supernatural drama that the two will write, and of which they will be showrunners.
The series will be based on the Ryan Parrott comic and will follow, according to the official synopsis, “a group of characters as they go through the annual ‘Dead Day’, when for one night the dead return to complete outstanding issues – whether it’s to celebrate a new night on Earth or torment the living ”.
In a statement, the authors said:
We’ve been looking for a project to do together for a while, and Dead Day has all the ingredients we love as storytellers. Love, death, thrills and tears – and we know Susan Rovner [Chairman, Entertainment Content, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming] and her Peacock team will be perfect for this project.
The producers
Plec and Williamson will executive produce Dead Day alongside Ben Fast, Emily Cummins and Lee Kramer , as well as Jon Kramer and David Sigurani for AfterShock Media.
The Vampire Diaries , based on the novels by LJ Smith , was a great success for The CW, which produced eight seasons of the series and two spin-offs, The Originals and Legacies . We’ll see if this new project will have the same luck.
