DISNEY + AIMS TO LOWER THE COST OF THE SUBSCRIPTION (WITH ADVERTISING)

A few days ago we tried to sum up the streaming , making a calculation of how much it costs to follow the main platforms present in Italy at the moment.

Advertisements

The answer? A lot, maybe too much.
Subscribing to everything is becoming seriously difficult and it is in this perspective that the new move announced by Disney + fits .

According to the Hollywood Reporter , the Mickey House streaming service will launch a new, more affordable subscription type later this year, which will be ad-supported to offset the lower cost. This is for the US market but it has already been anticipated that the offer will expand to the rest of the territories in which the platform is available by 2023.

The statements of Kareem Daniel, president of Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution

Expanding Disney + access to a wider audience through a lower price is a win for everyone: consumers, advertisers and storytellers for us. More users will be able to access our great content. Advertisers will be able to reach a wider audience and our storytellers will be able to share their amazing work with more families.

Subscription growth for Disney + slowed last year, particularly in North America. The idea of offering an advertising-supported subscription type had long been considered but only for it was decided to proceed in this direction. The goal, of course, is to stimulate user growth in the United States, where the platform has experienced a slowdown in the last period.

As always we will keep you updated on every development.
