DOCTOR WHO WILL ARRIVE ON DISNEY + OUTSIDE OF THE UK AND IRELAND

Disney + will be the new home of Doctor Who outside of the UK and Ireland.

BBC and Disney Branded Television have said they intend to take the franchise together to a new level. The episodes of the next season, which will see the debut of Ncuti Gatwa ( Sex Education ) in the role of the Doctor, will arrive on the BBC and Disney + in late 2023.

Showrunner Russell T. Davies , who took over the reins of the series after Steven Moffat ‘s release , said:

It is the best of both worlds. […] Together we can launch the TARDIS across the planet, reaching a new generation of fans while maintaining our traditional home at the BBC in the UK.

For Charlotte Moore , BBC Chief Content Officer, Disney is “the perfect partner to bring this very British series to the rest of the world”. The partnership will allow the series to “reach new audiences”.

Finally, Ayo Davis , president of Disney Branded Television, added:

We are so excited for this collaboration with the BBC and the opportunity to bring this iconic franchise – and Russell T. Davies’ brilliant vision – to life for a large, new global audience.

Recently, the BBC broadcast “The Power of the Doctor”, the new special episode of Doctor Who which saw the exit of the thirteenth Doctor, played by Jodie Whittaker . Ncuti Gatwa will take over next year, but the episode held a big surprise for fans (SPOILER!).
