Sonic 2 arrives in Italian cinemas today, continuing a cinematic adventure that began in 2020 and inspired by theSonic the Hedgehog.

In the scene after the film’s credits, as soldiers search for Robotnik’s (Jim Carrey) body among the remains of his robot after the final battle, Commander Walters (Tom Butler) is informed that some old documents have been found. reference to a research facility containing the most dangerous secret in US history: Project Shadow .
Shadow the Hedgehog is coming!
The reference is to Shadow the Hedgehog , the black hedgehog first introduced in 2001 in Sonic Adventure 2 .
Created by Professor Gerald Robotnik (grandfather of the character played by Jim Carrey), Shadow was born as Sonic ‘s antagonist and then became his ally.
It is an anthropomorphic and immortal black hedgehog, created using the blood of the alien Black Doom. His task was initially to destroy the Earth, which is why in the film he is identified as one of the most dangerous secrets in the history of the United States.
A clear reference to the plot is a potential third chapter that has not yet been officially announced.
The cast of the film
The sequel returns Ben Schwartz ( Sonic ‘s original voice ), James Marsden ( Tom Wachowski ), Tika Sumpter ( Maddie Wachowski ), Jim Carrey ( Doctor Ivo Robotnik ) and Lee Majdoub ( Agent Stone ). They are joined by Shemar Moore .
The film introduces Tails and Knuckles . Colleen O’Shaughnessey , who plays Tails in video games, also voices him in the film. Knuckles is portrayed by Idris Elba .
Screenplay, production and direction
The screenplay is again the work of Patrick Casey and Josh Miller . Also returning are Neal H. Mortiz, Toby Ascher and Toru Nakahara as producers, and Haijime Satomi, Haruki Satomi and Tim Miller as executive producers. Jeff Fowler is still directing .
The success of the first film
Sonic grossed $ 306 million worldwide against a budget of 95, and is the highest-grossing video game adaptation in North America.
