Intel promises “double-digit” performance gains with Raptor Lake .
Intel is preparing to make a splash in the PC space and could reveal its 13th generation Intel Core processors to the world in late September.
In a call with investors and analysts , Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger announced that the company will hold its Intel Innovation event on September 27-28.
The 13th generation will be known as Raptor Lake
Intel Innovation 2021 was the stage where the company unveiled its 12th generation ( Alder Lake ) in 2021, with the Intel Core i9-12900K leading the way. This would be the ideal scenario to show Raptor Lake , the name of its 13th generation.
“We are building on Alder Lake ‘s leadership with Raptor Lake in the second half of this year and with Meteor Lake in 2023,” Gelsinger said.
According to Gelsinger, the Raptor Lake family will offer consumers significant benefits. Among those he cited is a “double-digit” gain in performance and socket compatibility over the 12th generation ( Alder Lake ).
It was also announced that the version for Intel 13th generation laptops will arrive in late 2022.
David Zinsner, Intel ‘s chief financial officer , also confirmed that the company will raise its prices in line with inflation.
The second half of the year will also be used by AMD , which will introduce its Ryzen 7000 family .
The 12th generation was a success
Pat Gelsinger indicated on the call that Alder Lake has sold more than 35 million units.
12th generation processors repositioned Intel as a category leader amid intense competition from AMD .
“The PC is strong with the use of devices to work at home or study, its use has increased significantly,” he concluded.
