Duolingo is a language learning app, but the company now wants to diversify its portfolio of lessons with a new platform to help students learn math.
However, we will have to wait a bit longer to see this new app, as the company has confirmed that the project is in the early stages of development.
At the moment, the company has not provided much detail, but some clues can be taken. For example, a job posting in May shows that Duolingo is looking for a learning scientist with a doctorate in mathematics to help build the new app.
A new way to learn math
Duolingo CEO Luis von Ahn said users would be able to see Duolingo grow with the upcoming math app and that the company plans to expand beyond language learning, according to TechCrunch.
“If there are other issues where we think someone is doing a good job and they have a similar mission to ours, and they have a similar company culture,” Duolingo might consider acquiring the company, von Ahn said.
Duolingo currently has two applications available. The first offers lessons to learn more than 40 different languages; on the other hand, Duolingo ABC helps children learn to read in an easier and more fun way.
