On Sunday, Elon Musk made the query on Twitter: “Should I resign as head of Twitter ? I will listen to the results of this survey.”

More than 17.5 million people voted with 57.5% in favor of leaving the position of CEO of Twitter.

Shortly before publishing the poll, Elon Musk apologized for his controversial decisions on Twitter: “From now on, there will be a vote for major policy changes. My apologies. It won’t happen again.”

The billionaire, who claimed to buy Twitter to protect freedom of expression, suspended the account that followed the trips of his private plane and the journalists who covered the event.

Elon Musk shared some phrases in the middle of the vote: “Be careful what you wish for, because you could have it” and “those who want power are the least deserving of it.”

It’s also unclear who will take over Twitter, with Musk saying in a tweet that “no one wants the job to keep Twitter alive. There is no successor.”
