Elon Musk , owner of SpaceX , indicates that his aerospace company will bring human beings to Mars in 10 years, in the worst case, or even before that time.

During the Lex Fridman podcast episode, Elon Musk was asked about when he thinks SpaceX will bring men to the Red Planet.

The billionaire replied:  “The best case is around five years, the worst case 10 years.” Will it be one of his optimistic predictions again ?

Starship is the key

Musk noted that the determining factors included “designing the vehicle,” adding that  “Starship is the most complex and advanced rocket ever made.”

Starship is one of SpaceX’s bets to take humans to the Moon and Mars , its powerful engine is being put to the test and it will soon make its first suborbital flight .

“The fundamental optimization of Starship is to minimize the cost per ton to orbit and ultimately the cost per ton for the surface of Mars ,” Musk told Fridman on the podcast.
