Based on the graphic novel Ciudad written by Anthony and Joe Russo with Ande Parks , and illustrated by Fernando León González , the film is estimated to have been seen by 90 million viewers in the first month of its launch on Netflix . It became the platform’s most watched movie in 2020.
The sequel scheduled for 2022, starring Chris Hemsworth as Australian mercenary Tyler Rake, is scripted by Joe Russo .
