Amazon Studios has given the go-ahead for the live-action God of War series,
IT based on the well-known PlayStation franchise , which has been in the works since last March.
Rafe Judkins (The Wheel of Time) will serve as showrunner while Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (Children of Men, Iron Man, The Expanse) will serve as writers. They will serve as executive producers with Judkins .
The show is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios, in association with PlayStation Productions .
The video game series narrates the perilous journey of the former Spartan warrior Kratos intent on taking revenge on Ares, the Greek god of war, after killing his loved ones under the influence of the deity. After becoming the ruthless God of War himself, Kratos finds himself constantly searching for a way to change his fate.

SIE Santa Monica Studio has developed nine video games. They were published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PlayStation Portable and PlayStation Vita .
In addition to the five main games (GoW , GoW II, GoW III, God of War, and GoW : Ragnarök ), three spin-offs ( GoW : Betrayal, GoW: Chains of Olympus , and GoW : Ghost of Sparta ) have been released. and a prequel ( GoW : Ascension ).
GoW Ragnarök was released for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 last month . Kratos and Atreus seek out the Norse God of War Týr to team up against Odin and the rest of the gods of Asgard.
