The as-yet-untitled sequel to Godzilla Vs Kong will shoot this year in Queensland, Australia.

The news was reported published on the official Queensland government website.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said in front of the cameras today that the film, the fifth chapter of the MonsterVerse, will be shot on the Gold Coast and in south-east Queensland. She declared the premier:

“We are delighted to welcome Legendary Pictures producers back to Queensland following filming on Kong Skull Island and Godzilla vs. Kong held in 2016 and 2019 respectively. It is clear that our highly skilled local team, different locations and top notch facilities were the trump cards to keep them coming back again. ”

Economy and jobs

Filming on the film is expected to bring in a flow of A $ 79.2 million ($ 58.6M), creating 505 jobs for the Queensland cast and crew, plus the job opportunity for an extra 750.

Palaszczuk explained:

Production is expected to inject more than double the $ 36.5 million that Godzilla vs. Kong has led to the state and is a welcome injection to our economy as we recover from the impacts of the global pandemic and flood events in southeastern Queensland.

These types of productions benefit our film industry, create local jobs and give a welcome boost to our small businesses and communities in and around our production sites. “

The sequel

Few details on this sequel, Adam Wingard , director of Godzilla Vs Kong, had previously stated that he wanted to continue the franchise.

In an interview with Deadline he explained:

“I would absolutely love to continue. The clear starting point we have set up, the exploration of the Hollow Earth, I think there is a lot more to do there. This is the prehistory of planet Earth, where all the titans come from. We have created a bit of mystery in this film, things that I want to see solved, explored and taken to the next level. If I have the opportunity, I know what I will do. It’s up to Warner Bros and Legendary if they have an appetite. “
