Google has indicated that it will remove accounts with no activity in at least 2 years, except those with videos on YouTube .
The latest policy announced by Google to remove accounts that have been inactive for at least 2 years has raised concerns in the community about the possible disappearance of thousands of YouTube videos from them. Fortunately, the company already has an answer.
When in doubt, Google assures that it has no plans to delete accounts with YouTube videos , even if they are inactive for long periods, thus protecting its gigantic digital library.
they almost left us
Who gave the answer was Rene Ritchie, who connects content creators with the portal, through his Twitter account.
Google announced Wednesday that it would delete accounts that haven’t logged in in the past two years.
Said policy also included deleting “the content within Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Drive, Meet, Calendar), YouTube and Google Photos”.
It was clearly a problem. Uploading videos to YouTube began more than a decade ago and many creators simply disappeared from the platform, but they left great works in images that we can now consult and that even serve as documentary records.
they would lose money
Deleting Google accounts would save the company a lot of money on maintenance.
However, YouTube content is available to the public, and Google serves ads on those videos, so those videos make money. In addition, these accounts do not have active owners, so there is no revenue sharing
