Ever since the first photo of Daniel Radcliffe.

Emma Watson and Rupert Grint in Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts was released , hardcore fans have noticed clues (shadow of foot, lights on face) showing Grint’s absence. while filming in Leavesden.

The trailer then fueled the doubts further, when the most observant noticed the different color of Emma’s nails:

Official confirmation came from photographer Caitlin Cronenberg who shot Grint’s scenes in Toronto.

“Who was moved by watching ‘Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts’?

A big inspiration of mine, @marcogrob, shot the gorgeous key art for this special, and I was asked to film @rupertgrint who was shooting in Toronto and was unable to come to London for principal photography.

If you know how much I love Harry Potter, you know how thrilling this was for me! Thanks @hbomax for this amazing opportunity! And to my amazing team @arthouseagency @alquinterophotography @ryanfrancoz and @tsiah for working closely with Marco’s team to try and match the lighting set in London perfectly!

And thanks to Rupert for this selfie! Now my son thinks I’m a rock star!

The absence of Rupert

As Cronenberg explains, Rupert was in Canada filming the Netflix horror series Cabinet of Curiosities by Guillermo del Toro .

As a result, he was unable to attend the three days of filming at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter , which took place between mid / late November.

As of December, three different sources from the Mugglenet site had Rupert’s absence due to overlapping commitments, while Dan and Emma are in the same physical space. The scenes between Rupert and Emma were filmed in Toronto, that’s the reason behind the different color of the nails.
