They will ALL be there. And when we say everyone, we mean everyone: Here
An adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name by Richard McGuire to be directed by Robert Zemeckis , starring Tom Hanks and written by Eric Roth , the Forrest Gump trio , has now also bought Robin Wright . The reunion is complete, for a film that already promises to be an event. It will be released in 2023, and Sony Pictures has acquired the American distribution of the film, produced by Miramax.
Miramax CEO Bill Block said it will be “a privilege to support the vision of these renowned creators. We can’t wait to bring this exceptional visual and emotional experience to the world ”.
Tom Rothman , CEO of Sony Pictures Motion Group, added:
I had the privilege of watching Bob and Tom up close as they broke the rules of storytelling with Cast Away , much to the delight of the audience. With Here , Eric and Bob have written another, perhaps even more remarkable, exquisitely thrilling and totally unique story. At Sony we believe in originality and in supporting great artists who push the boundaries, so we are grateful to Bill Block and all the filmmakers for allowing us to join this great journey.
Here will be produced by Zemeckis and Jack Rapke ‘s ImageMovers , as well as Bill Block. Like Forrest Gump , Here will cover a large time frame. Unlike the 90s classic, however, the new film will be set in a single location in New England. At first a wasteland, that place will become a home, where couples and families will experience love, loss, fatigue and hope over the generations, from the past to the distant future. Filming will begin in September.
