The HBO released the first teaser of “House of the Dragon” , showing that they plan to invest the same level of production that had the original series “Game of Thrones” .
The video begins by introducing the Targaryen family, in a series that aims to show the rise and fall of Daenerys’ ancestors. Watch above.
“House of the Dragon” is based on George RR Martin’s own book “Fire and Blood” which serves as a record of the Targaryen family in Westeros. The series will focus on the events of the Dance of Dragons, 200 years before the story of “Game of Thrones” .
Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) is the younger brother of King Viserys I (Paddy Considine) and is the heir to the throne. A unique warrior and dragon knight, he has the strong traits of his family’s blood, which isn’t always a good sign. Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) is the first daughter of Viserys, a Valyrian thoroughbred, and a dragon rider. However, even being the eldest, she does not have the right to the throne, as she is a woman, which will cause a great conflict between the family. Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) is Otto’s daughter, Hand of the King, and is said to be a very attractive woman. She was raised in the Red Keep, near the king, and with her grace and political wisdom, this will serve her very well.

Sapochnik also directs the pilot episode and is expected to direct other subsequent chapters in the series. Clare Kilner ( “The Alienist” ), Geeta V. Patel ( “The Witcher” ) and Greg Yaitanes ( “Manhunt” ) are also directors.
“House of the Dragon” has already started recording, and is scheduled to premiere in 2022 on HBO.
