HOW DO YOU LIVE? NO SPOT, NO TRAILER FOR HAYAO MIYAZAKI’S FILM

Just over a month until the release of How Do You Live?  ( Kimi-tachi wa Dō Ikiru ka ), the new film directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Studio Ghibli .

The film will be released in Japanese theaters from July 14 , but other than a poster, no other promotional materials have been provided yet.

Anyone who follows the Studio knows that the fact that there are still no images or trailers is the norm for a Ghibli production . For example in the case of The Wind Rises , the trailer was launched just a month before, and the first images… 45 days before.

The film will not be based on Yoshino’s book

Producer Toshio Suzuki recently explained that the film is not an adaptation of writer Genzaburō Yoshino ‘s novel of the same name , as we have believed so far. Instead, it is a fantasy adventure story.

On Twitter there are those who say they have read some hypotheses that the film actually tells the story of Jonathan Livingston Seagull .

In an online interview with the Shūkan Bunshun explained that Studio Ghibli will not release trailers, TV spots or newspaper advertisements until the film’s release date. He then added:

“No production committee. No relation to the original book of the same name. Out on July 14th!”

Also for THE FIRST SLAM DUNK the cinemas found themselves in an anomalous situation, no synopsis, almost no information on the story.

Even the Japanese fans were stunned by this choice.

The staff

In addition to directing,  Miyazaki  also wrote the story and screenplay. Details about the staff, cast and plot have not yet been revealed.
