HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, MASON THAMES AND NICO PARKER WILL BE HICCUP AND ASTRID IN THE LIVE ACTION

Universal Pictures has found the protagonists of How to Train Your Dragon , a live action remake of the acclaimed animated film:

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Mason Thames and Nico Parker will play Hiccup and Astrid .

Mason Thames is best known for playing the lead in Black Phone , but has also appeared in the series For All Mankind, Evel and Walker . He will next be in the movies Boys of Summer and Incoming .

Nico Parker played Sarah Miller, daughter of Joel, in the memorable series prologue The Last of Us . She is also known for the live action of Dumbo , The Third Day and Snippets from the past – Reminiscence . Also among her upcoming projects is the film Suncoast .

Filming will begin this summer, with direction and screenplay still handled by Dean DeBlois , the same as the animated trilogy (the first chapter, however, was co-directed by Chris Sanders ). At the base, of course, is the book How to Train a Dragon by Cressida Cowell , published in Italy by Rizzoli . The release is expected on March 14, 2025 in US theaters.

Production

How to Train Your Dragon is produced by Marc Platt and Adam Siegel through Marc Platt Productions . Overseeing the film for Universal is Lexi Barta , VP of production development.

The synopsis of the animated film

Hic is a young Viking who, although not as physically powerful as his other companions, wants to become a dragon hunter. During training Hic manages to accidentally wound a dragon considered particularly rare and dangerous, Toothless. Not being able to kill it, Hic takes care of it and soon an unusual friendship develops between him and Toothless that will change not only the way Hic sees the world but also that of his entire tribe.
