Instagram is taking steps to make Reels content above TikTok videos , so it will prioritize original content creators.
While browsing Instagram Reels it won’t take long for you to come across a video with the TikTok logo on it . Countless short TikTok videos have been spread on rival social networks like Facebook and Instagram , something Meta doesn’t like .
Instagram this week announced a series of changes to its platform aimed at empowering original Reels content creators .
“I know a lot of you are skeptical about ranking, but it really helps us make sure Instagram is more valuable to each and every person who uses the platform ,” said Adam Mosseri , head of Instagram .

Only Reels content
In a video posted on Instagram , Adam Mosseri notes, “If you create something from scratch, you should get more credit than if you reshare something you found from someone else.”
In other words, TikTok posts shared on Instagram Reels will not appear more frequently on the short video platform, prioritizing original content.
Although Mosseri does not directly mention TikTok , the message is clear for Reels users to stop sharing videos from other platforms including the Chinese app. “One of the things I’ve learned from talking to creators is how important it is for them to get credit for the work they do ,” Mosseri said.
Instagram is introducing tags for all users, a feature previously limited to business accounts, that allows products to be tagged in photos and videos.
