HBO Max has found showrunners for Welcome to Derry , prequel series of IT : Jason Fuchs and Brad Caleb Kane , according to Variety .
The plot of the show will start in the sixties, in the creepy city of Derry, and will lead to the events of the first film by Andrés Muschietti . It will also tell the origins of the clown Pennywise , but further story details are not available.
Jason Fuchs , former co-producer of IT CHAPTER TWO , is best known for his work in Ice Age 4 – Continents Adrift, Pan – A Journey to Neverland, Wonder Woman and You’re Still Here – I Still See You . He also wrote Matthew Vaughn ‘s upcoming Argylle and Doug Liman ‘s Luna Park .
Brad Caleb Kane has strung together various experiences on the small screen, working for shows such as Fringe, Black Sails, Warrior, Tokyo Vice and Moonhaven . He has also contributed to the writing of two films, Extinction and The Banker .
Muschietti , director of IT and IT CHAPTER TWO , will serve as executive producer along with Barbara Muschietti and Fuchs himself. The latter conceived the story of the show together with the Argentine director, who could direct the first episode if HBO Max decides to order the series.
