During the D23 Expo, a new animated sci-fi series by Disney + was presented .
The title of this, announced in 2019 during Disney Investor Day, is Iwájú and comes from the collaboration between Disney Animation and the Pan-African entertainment company Kugali .
For the occasion, the first image was released, which transports us to a futuristic version of Lagos, Nigeria. The series debut is scheduled for 2023.

Iwájú , translated “The future”, explores profound themes such as social condition, innocence and the challenge to the status quo. The series is directed by Ziki Nelson (founder of Kugali), in the animation team we find Christina Chen (producer) and Marlon Wes t (vfx supervisor), under the supervision of Jennifer Lee , chief creative officer of Disney Animation. Joel MacDonald (producer) and Ellen Poon (vfx supervisor)are also on the production team
