Jeff Bezos , former CEO of Amazon and current leader of Blue Origin , has announced that he will donate the majority of his fortune to charity throughout his life.

Currently, the estate of the founder of the e-commerce giant is valued at 124 billion, and he hopes that it will be shared to counteract climate change.

goodbye to your fortune

Bezos, now in charge of a space company, wants his money to go to charities that can make the most of the investment, especially in order to “create unity” for humanity.

As part of his first actions, Jeff Bezos has donated $100 million to singer and literacy advocate Dolly Parton.

He has also pledged $10 billion to the Bezos Earth Fund , an organization that will advance political and technological solutions to climate change.

His ex-wife Mackenzie Scott has also donated up to $4 billion to charity in recent years following their divorce.

What is curious is that Bezos himself has been criticized for his counterproductive actions against the environment: he promotes space tourism that, on each flight, heavily pollutes with its rockets.

not the first

Months ago, another tycoon like Bill Gates promised to donate all his money through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. In addition, he encourages other billionaires to contribute to the cause of humanity.

Who is in that same campaign, called The Giving Pledge, is Mark Zuckerberg, who in 2015 promised to donate 99% of the shares of his company, with a value at that time of 45 billion dollars.
