JOHN WICK 4: KEANU REEVES GOT RID OF ALMOST HALF OF HIS DIALOGUE

The Wall Street Journal had a lot of time to spare, and so it decided to calculate the number of words spoken by Keanu Reeves in John Wick 4 : that’s 380, in a 169-minute film.

The Wall Street Journal writes:

In the first chapter, which lasted 101 minutes, Mr. Reeves spoke a total of 484 words. Running at 169 minutes, the fourth film is close to three hours, but includes only 380 spoken words by Wick. About 10% of them are contained in the trailer, which makes the hero seem almost talkative; Wick says more in that 2.5-minute clip than he does in the first 25 minutes of the film itself.

Director Chad Stahelski has revealed that this was Keanu Reeves’ own decision:

Mr. Reeves got rid of almost half of the dialogue written for his character in the initial script.

Audiences evidently aren’t going to John Wick 4 for the dialogue, however: The film opened with 73.5 million domestically, a record for the franchise, and with 137.5 million worldwide.

The official synopsis
