Kevin Durand ( Locke & Key, The Strain, Vikings ) has joined the cast of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
The new chapter of Planet of the Apes which will also be played by Owen Teague, Freya Allan and Peter Macron .
Apparently, Durand will play a monkey and will likely be one of the film’s villains.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will be directed by Wes Ball , director of the Maze Runner saga , and was written by Josh Friedman ( Avatar: The Way of Water ), Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver ( Rise of the Planet of the Apes ) and Patrick Aison ( Prey ). Joe Hartwick Jr. , Jaffa, Silver and Jason Reed produce, Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping are executive producers.
The film will be a new chapter in the reboot saga, the one played by Andy Serkis as Caesar, but will kick off many years after The War – Planet of the Apes . Steve Asbell , president of 20th Century Studios, said:

The saga began in 1968 with the classic starring Charlton Heston , loosely based on a novel by Pierre Boulle , then continued with four other films. Later, Tim Burton signed a remake of the first film, released in 2001, while in 2011 Rise of the Planet of the Apes launched a new saga, lasting three films. This new chapter will carry it forward.
