Disney + has released the official trailer of Kizazi Moto: Generation of Fire , a new anthology of animated shorts that will debut on Wednesday 5 July exclusively on the streaming platform.
Featuring stories from creators from Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda and Zimbabwe, Kizazi Moto: Generation of Fire promises to take viewers on an unforgettable journey into Africa’s future, presenting never-before-seen visions of the continent.
The action-packed animated anthology draws on the continent’s rich and diverse cultures and history to present 10 sci-fi and fantasy tales that offer bold new takes on advanced technology, aliens, spirits and monsters.
The 10 films are: “Stardust” (Ahmed Teilab, Egypt), “Mkhuzi: the spirit pilot” (Simangaliso “Panda” Sibaya and Malcolm Wopé, South Africa), “Hatima” (Terence Maluleke and Isaac Mogajane, South Africa), “Enkai“ (Ng’endo Mukii, Kenya), “Mọrèmí” (Shofela Coker, Nigeria), “Surf Sangoma” (Nthato Mokgata and Catherine Green, South Africa), “Mukudzei” (Pious Nyenyewa and Tafadzwa Hove, Zimbabwe), “ The problems of the first totem” (Tshepo Moche, South Africa), “Chwezi Highlands” (Raymond Malinga, Uganda) and “You give me your heart” (Lesego Vorster, South Africa).
Peter Ramsey (co-director of the Oscar-winning film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse ) is the executive producer of Kizazi Moto: Generation of Fire , together with Tendayi Nyeke and Anthony Silverston of Triggerfish, the lead studio of this anthology.
