Licantropus , aka Werewolf By Night , was released last midnight on Disney + , and directorMichael Giacchinohas.
It unveiled a striking poster depicting the werewolfJack Russell(Gael García Bernal).
It is actually the cover of the soundtrack, obviously composed byGiacchino.
As we know, Licantropus is the first Marvel Studios production to carry the Special Presentation brand , and was made for Halloween. It is not a film or a TV series, but a “special” in a television format: in other words, a 52-minute medium-length film. Here is the official synopsis:
On a bleak, dark night, a secret cabal of monster hunters emerges from the shadows and reunites in the prophetic Bloodstone Temple after their leader dies. Here a strange and macabre celebration of the latter’s life takes place, involving the participants in a mysterious and deadly competition for a powerful relic: a hunt that, in the end, will bring them face to face with a dangerous monster.

Werewolf By Night
The special will revolve around Licantropus , or Werewolf By Night in the original. The character, which first appeared on Marvel Spotlight # 2 (February 1972), was created by Roy Thomas, Jean Thomas, Gerry Conway and Mike Ploog . He is obviously a werewolf, and has had many adventures as an anti-hero in the Marvel universe, as well as being part of groups such as Legion of Monsters and Midnight Sons . Over time, he learns to transform into a werewolf on command and to control his actions.
The first Licantropus is Jacob Russoff , while the second is Jake Gomez : the latter has Mexican and Native American origins (of the Hopi tribe). He was created by Benjamin Jackendoff , Scot Eaton and Taboo (yes, that of the Black Eyed Peas ).
The cast includes Gael García Bernal, Laura Donnelly, Harriet Sansom Harris, Eugenie Bondurant, Kirk R. Thatcher and Al Hamacher .
The direction is by Michael Giacchino , Oscar winner for the music of Up , who has already worked with Marvel as a composer (in the three Spider-Man , in the first Doctor Strange and in Thor: Love and Thunder ). His experiences behind the camera are limited to the short Monster Challenge and one episode of Star Trek: Short Treks . He has recently been highly regarded for the Batman soundtrack .
