Pixar hired another celebrity actor, Chris Evans , as the new voice for the character. . Or, rather, the character who inspired the toy seen in Toy Story .

Of course, if the idea was that this was the movie that prompted Andy to buy a Buzz Lightyear toy, then consistently the character should have been voiced by Allen, since, normally, the phrases spoken by the toys come from clips from the movie. which they are inspired by. But that didn’t happen, and Tim Allen has no problem with the decision.

Speaking with Extra, Allen said:

The short answer is that I stayed out of it because it had nothing to do [with my Buzz Lightyear].

The actor then added:

It is a beautiful story. It’s just that it has no connection with the toy, and it’s kind of… I don’t know. She has no relationship with Buzz, in short. There is no connection. I wish there was a greater bond.

Allen also revealed that, at least initially, Pixar had involved him in the project:

We talked about it many years ago, during one of the [dubbing] sessions. I said, “What a fun movie that would be.” But the big shots who made the first four films [are gone]. This is a whole new team that has nothing to do with the one from the first films.

For the actor, the beauty of Toy Story movies is that they are buddy movies:

It’s me and Hanks. There can be no Toy Story Buzz without Woody.
